Hamad Port container tracking

Hamad Port, managed by Mwani Qatar, is Qatar's main container gateway. Our Hamad Port page explains how container tracking works there and which steps to check.

Container ETA

The estimated time of arrival tells you when the vessel carrying your container is expected at port. Use it to plan customs documents and transport, and check it again before arrival because schedules change.

Vessel tracking

Your container travels on a named vessel and voyage. Following the vessel shows whether it is on schedule, delayed or waiting for a berth, which is often the first sign that your ETA will change.

Container arrival

Arrival means the vessel has reached the port. Your container may not be available yet, because it still has to be unloaded and processed by the terminal.

Container discharge

Discharge is the point where the container is lifted off the vessel and placed in the terminal yard. It is a key milestone, because charges for storage can start counting from here.

Customs status

Imports into Qatar are declared through Al-Nadeeb, the customs single-window system run by the General Authority of Customs. A container usually cannot leave the port until its declaration is cleared.

Container release

Release means the shipping line has authorized the container for collection. It normally follows presentation of the original or released bill of lading and payment of line charges.

Gate out

Gate out is recorded when the container leaves the terminal on a truck. Once it is out, the port journey is complete and the container is on its way to your premises.

FAQ

Container Tracking Qatar: questions

How do I track a container in Qatar?

expand_more

Enter your container number, Bill of Lading or booking number in the search box at the top of this page. Leave the carrier on auto-detect, or choose your shipping line if you know it.

What does a container number look like?

expand_more

A container number has four letters followed by seven digits, for example MSKU1234567. The first three letters identify the owner and the fourth letter is usually U.

How can I tell when my container will arrive at Hamad Port?

expand_more

Check the estimated arrival (ETA) shown in the tracking result and compare it with the vessel's latest position. ETAs can move when a vessel is delayed, so check again close to the arrival date.

Why does my container show as discharged but I cannot collect it?

expand_more

Discharge only means the container has been lifted off the vessel. Collection also needs customs clearance and container release, so check those statuses before booking a truck for gate out.
