About Scan Global Logistics

Scan Global Logistics is a freight forwarder, not a carrier, and the difference is worth stating first because directory sites routinely list vessel names against its shipment records in a way that implies otherwise. Those are ships it purchased space on. It operates no vessels, no aircraft, no rail wagons and no container fleet. What it sells is the arrangement of transport — buying capacity from the companies that own the assets, consolidating and routing cargo across modes, and issuing its own house documentation. Because it owns no equipment, it has no entry in the international container owner register and no conventional ocean carrier code, which is why lookups against carrier databases return nothing useful.

The Danish company traces its core business to 1975, marking fifty years in 2025, though its current shape dates from a 2007 merger of Scanam Transport and Mahé Freight. It operates from Hvidovre, in the Copenhagen area. Its ownership has passed through a sequence of financial investors rather than remaining family-held or being absorbed by a carrier: Odin Equity acquired it in 2007, AEA Investors in 2016, and CVC Capital Partners' Fund VIII took a majority stake in a transaction announced in February 2023 and completed that May, reported at around $1.5 billion, with AEA and company management retaining minority co-investments. Nils Smedegaard Andersen, formerly chief executive of A.P. Møller-Maersk, joined as chairman.

Growth has come disproportionately from acquisition. The company has completed more than thirty transactions since 2017, spanning at least fourteen countries with the heaviest activity in Australia and Germany, and averaged annual revenue growth in the region of a third across that period. Recent deals include the Canadian forwarder ITN Logistics, agreed in December 2024 and closing in early 2025, and the Dutch operator Van Donge & de Roo in October 2025; earlier additions include Blu Logistics in Latin America and Foppiani Shipping & Logistics. It also opened its own offices in India during 2025 rather than working through agents there. For the 2025 financial year the company reported revenue of EUR 2,526 million, up from EUR 2,383 million the year before, with EBITDA before special items of EUR 219 million against EUR 195 million — modest growth in a soft freight market, which is roughly what the sector delivered that year. Its service mix spans ocean freight (both LCL and full container, plus break bulk and ship chartering), air freight including charter and on-board courier work, rail on Asia-Europe and intra-European corridors, and road across less-than-truckload and full-truckload, with contract logistics, project and heavy-lift cargo, fulfilment and customs brokerage layered on top. The practical implication for tracking is that a single Scan Global booking may cross several modes handled by several different underlying providers, so gaps between legs generally represent handovers rather than stalls. Maalbardaar clears Scan Global-booked shipments at Pakistani ports and airports against the house bill, independent of which carrier moved the cargo.

Maalbardaar is an independent logistics technology platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Scan Global Logistics A/S. "Scan Global Logistics" and all related marks are trademarks of their respective owners and are used here for identification purposes only. For official information, visit the carrier's own website . Carrier data sources: Legal name, 1975 founding and company history from Scan Global Logistics' own site (scangl.com), which marked its 50th year in 2025. Ownership history: Odin Equity 2007, AEA Investors 2016, and a current majority holding by CVC Capital Partners, per Preqin. Headquarters given as "Copenhagen area" because company materials cite Copenhagen while a business directory lists the operating address in Hvidovre, a Copenhagen-area municipality. No container prefix, no SCAC and no office count are published here: SGL operates no vessels or containers, the "SGBW" code circulating for it is a US import record identifier rather than a corroborated ocean SCAC, and no current office figure could be verified.
