Wan Hai Into Pakistan

Wan Hai has a more concrete Pakistan footprint than several other intra-Asia carriers moving cargo through the region, in that two specific facts about it are directly confirmed rather than inferred. First, Wan Hai’s own contact directory names Riazeda Pvt Ltd, based in Clifton, Karachi, as its exclusive Pakistan agent, handling vessel operations, import and export documentation, delivery order issuance and customer support locally. Second, Wan Hai appears on published lists of carriers calling Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT), on West Wharf, alongside lines such as Yang Ming and COSCO.

A deeper pass turned up a confirmed direct-call service: Wan Hai is a named participant, alongside Coscon, CSCL and PIL, in the Pakistan Mundra Express (PMX), a joint service first launched in 2014 and revamped since, rotating Shanghai, Ningbo, Shekou, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Klang, Karachi and Mundra. Karachi Gateway Terminal’s own live vessel schedule corroborates this, showing named Wan Hai vessels calling under PMX and a second service designated AMX, with real ETAs and ETDs rather than a static carrier list. Outside services like this one, Wan Hai’s business model still leans toward the feeder role: it runs a large number of smaller, flexible ships that give it direct-call coverage on Asian port pairs the bigger alliance carriers would only reach by transshipment, and it feeds cargo into and out of those larger networks on most of its other strings. So while PMX gives Wan Hai a confirmed direct Karachi call, a booking outside that specific service could still change vessel at a regional hub before reaching Pakistan.

The distinction matters practically: a confirmed local agent and a confirmed terminal tell you where your shipment will be documented and discharged, not necessarily which vessel physically carries it the whole way. If your tracking shows a gap between an Asian port and Karachi, that is consistent with a hub transfer rather than a tracking failure.

We found no confirmation of a Wan Hai call at Port Qasim specifically. Between the two Karachi terminals, KGTL’s live, named-vessel schedule is the stronger source; KICT remains listed too on the strength of the aggregator data already cited, since a box could plausibly discharge at either depending on the vessel and service.

Clearing a Wan Hai Shipment in Pakistan

Once a Wan Hai container discharges at KGTL or KICT, clearance runs through the standard Pakistan process: the importer or their clearing agent files the goods declaration via WeBOC or the Pakistan Single Window against the bill of lading, duties and taxes are assessed, and the terminal releases the container once customs and terminal charges clear. Riazeda’s confirmed role as Wan Hai’s local agent covers shipping-side documentation, vessel operations and delivery order issuance, not customs brokerage, so a delivery order from Riazeda is a separate step from the customs clearance itself.

One Wan Hai-specific detail worth checking before you start: confirm the container prefix on your documents is actually WHLU or WHSU, the only two codes registered to Wan Hai Lines, since a leased box from Triton, CAI or Beacon moving on a Wan Hai booking carries the lessor’s prefix instead and can otherwise look like a transcription problem when it is not. Once the box is correctly identified and the delivery order issued, Maalbardaar files WeBOC clearance against the confirmed Karachi discharge, whether at KGTL or KICT, and whether the vessel that physically called Karachi was operated by Wan Hai or by a partner carrier after a regional hub connection.
