About Emirates SkyCargo
Emirates SkyCargo launched on 25 October 1985 as the freight division of Emirates, and it grew alongside the airline rather than as a separate business. That shared history explains its shape: while it operates a dedicated freighter fleet (11 Boeing 777Fs plus five wet-leased 747Fs at the end of 2025), a substantial share of its capacity is belly space beneath passenger aircraft flying Emirates’ network.
The operation is split across two Dubai airports. Freighters work from Dubai World Central, while belly cargo moves through Dubai International alongside the passenger operation. Emirates SkyCargo tracking: what to check first
You probably have only part of the number. An air waybill is eleven digits: the three-digit airline prefix, then eight more. Emirates’ prefix is 176. People routinely record just the eight-digit serial from an email or an invoice, then cannot understand why nothing resolves. Put the 176 back on the front. The dash in 176-12345675 is a convention and does not matter either way.
The shipment may already be closed. This is the reverse of the ocean freight problem. Air consignments move in days, so by the time someone gets round to tracking, the goods have often been delivered and the record retired. If a number that worked last week returns nothing now, that is usually why.
One air waybill can cover several flights. If a consignment does not all fit on the booked flight, the balance follows later under the same number. Tracking can legitimately show a partial departure. It is not a data error, and the air waybill number does not change.
Check the check digit. The last of the eleven digits is a modulus-7 calculation on the seven before it. A transposed pair will produce a plausible-looking number that fails every lookup, so re-read from the air waybill itself rather than from a forwarded message.

Manifested

Departed
The flight carrying your consignment has left the origin airport. Air waybills often split across flights, so a shipment can show partial departure.
Arrived
The flight landed at the destination or a transit airport. Onward connections re-manifest the consignment under the same air waybill number.
Customs cleared
The consignment was released by destination customs and can be collected from the cargo terminal.
Delivered
The consignment was handed over to the consignee or their nominated agent, closing the air waybill.
